Daman and Diu

Daman and Diu stands as the second smallest union territory of India and is infringed by the Arabian Sea on its one side and the state of Gujarat on the other. It was only in the year 1987 that Daman and Diu got separated from the state of Goa. Along with Goa, the islands of Daman and Diu also make one of the most sought after tourist destinations.


Daman was formerly called as Damao and is situated on the west coast of India. The place is popularly known for its picturesque location and backdrop and of course its pristine beaches. Whereas, when talking about Diu, it is to put a limelight on the fact that Diu has taken its name from the Sanskrit word Dweep and is also recognized as the best sea port and a Naval Base from 14th to 16th century.
