Yercaud is a hill station nestles in the lap of Salem District of the state of Tamil Nadu, India. Lying in the Shevaroys range of hills in the Eastern Ghats, popular for its serenity is situated at an altitude of 1515 m. Yercaud is also acknowledged as the Jewel of the Southand also signified as the Lake Forest.


Yarcaud is connected to the city Salem, through Highway at a distance of 8 km. the hill station experiences a moderate and a pleasant climate and temperature ranging from 13 degree c to 29. The town is also popular for its production of Coffee and citrus fruits, most notably oranges, are grown in abundance apart from bananas, pears and jackfruit.


Yercaud is enthralling and scenic like that of the other hill stations on the Western Ghats and offers an opportunity for experiencing activities like trekking and paragliding. The total area of Yercaud Taluk is 382.67 km2, including Reserve Forest. Other places for sight-seeing include the Lake, Ladys Seat, Killiyur Falls, Pagoda Point, Arthurs Seat, Kaveri Peak and the Shevaroyan temple.
