Yelagiri, one of the admired hill stations in Tamil Nadu. It is formed out of a cluster of 14 hamlets, which are sprawled over 30 sq km and are situated at an altitude of 3,460 ft above sea level. These hills are situated in the Vellore District of Tamil Nadu, near the Vaniyambadi Tirupattur road.


The passage to the hills travels through 14 hairpin bends that are open to the magnificent mountain landscapes; fading the city with its each twists and turns. The foremost thing that will grab your attention is its calm and composed environs. The backdrop is all decorated with beautiful rustic surroundings and serenity creating the echoes in the hills.


The hill will release the smells and fragrances of the fresh mangoes and jackfruits that are grown in abundance. Yelagiri is famous for producing the finest honey in the state of Tamil Nadu. The most admired attraction of Yelagiri is the Lake Punganoor, which is located in the heart of the town. This lake provides opportunity to explore this untouched beauty with its activities like boating. The hills also provide options for trekking.


Another excursion is Swamimalai, erecting as the highest peak in the Yelagiri hills at an altitude of 4338 feet, renders a breathtaking view of the nature’s beauty.  Paragliding is another sport that attracts the interests of the tourists. The hill station has been chosen as the second best natural spot in India for sports, first being Panchgani in Maharashtra.
