One of the most amazing and interesting places to visit in southern India is the Vivekananda Rock Memorial. Situated in an island in Kanyakumari, the fort looks beautiful and attracts large number of tourists every day. Standing on the top of the two rocks that are situated 500 meters off the island, Vivekananda rock memorial is recently built in around 1970’s. The memorial consists of two main structures, the Vivekananda Mandapam and the Shripada Mandapam. It is the place where swami Vivekananda had meditated on the rock seeking enlightenment. Being located on an island and in the middle of the water, Boat facilities are available for tourists to visit the stunning memorial. Apart from the great building and other halls constructed in the rock, there is a meditation hall called Dhyana Mandapam where people can meditate in the calm and composed atmosphere. The Mandapam in the memorial incorporated one of the best architectural designs in all over India. It also houses a beautifully carved statue of Swami Vivekananda.

According to the mythology, the rock is considered sacred, as it has been touched by the sacred feet of Devi Kumari. Vivekananda memorial is a must place to watch out for the tourists. It is a fabulous place and has a lot to explore for the travelers.
