Velneshwar stands in the location which makes it one of the most secluded coves with a spreadsheet of pristine white sands in the intact Konkan stretch, having its fringes draped with lush green coconut trees. Velneshwar is located on the northern side of Shastri River. Setting afar from the madding crowds of the city, the Velneshwar beach proffers an ideal getaway in the land of tranquility. The shades of coconut-palm trees and rock free sea water make Velneshwar an ideal destination for swimming and sunbathing.
Besides the magnificence of sands, there is another attraction of Velneshwar and that is the old Shiva Temple which is visited by many tourists and pilgrims. The best time to visit this temple is during the Maha Shivratri in the month of March, when the city is spotted with fun and flair with a great fair in order to give honor of Lord Shiva.
Velneshwar is at a distance of 370 km from Mumbai and can be reached by road from Mumbai via Chiplun and Guhagar. The nearest rail head to the beach is at Chiplun. There is also a government resort, located in a close proximity to the beach.
