Vellarimala

Vellarimala stands as a component of a high mount range known as Camels Hump Mountains, which is a part of the Western Ghats. In the region, the majority of the hill ranges happens to fall in the Meppady Forest Range of Southern side of Wayanad Division, along with some parts happen to be in the Thamarassery Range of Kozhikode Division.

This high mountain range is similar to that of Nilgiri Hills in Tamil Nadu. The tallest peak in this range is called Vavul Mala, which stands at an elevation of 2339m. In fact, it is the tallest of the Western Ghats that lies to the north of Nilgiri Hills.

Luxuriant landscapes, sprinkled with streams, bubbling cascades & the aroma of fresh air; sounds like a picture perfect…right? Of course, Vellarimala offers all this and even much more. The best spot for the adventure lovers renders them to carry on their activities on its rocky terrain, along with which a river known as Kanjirapuzha, which is a stream of River Chaliyar creating many striking waterfalls at various spots in the mountain.

The spot is a trekker’s paradise and very much resembles South American rain forest. On an excursion to the place, you will witness many magnificent waterfalls and picturesque backdrops. Also there is an outstanding waterfall called Olichuchattam waterfall, which is famous for its amazing view with its frothing white waters from the hill.

The region is an abode to a variety of birds and animals. There is a wide variety of flora here in the region such as Rhododendron arboreum etc. the high ranges makes the place calm and serene away from the madding crowds.
