Upvan Lake also spelled as Upavan Lake, is situated in Thane, which happens to be in the Indian state of Maharashtra. The lake is located near Shivai Nagar, Vasant Vihar and Vartak nagar and is encircled with the roads on all its sides making it accessible to reach. Standing as the biggest lake in thane, the lake is flanked by the hills of Yeoor and exactly positioned in the area of Pokhran-II.
The lake is regarded as the Thane’s lover’s paradise and is most frequented lake rendering a common sight of teenagers here in the lake. With the odd lakes that numbered around twenty three, in the very region, the Upvan Lake ranks highest with the love birds.
The lake also forms an intersection of the Pokhran I and Pokhran II roads. Once served as a main source of supply of water to the city of Thane, is one of the favorite places among the locals providing beautiful site scenes and is also famous for bike racings. The hills give a wonderful backdrop to the site.
The official residence of the Mayor of Thane Municipal Corporation is adjacent to the lake.
