The Taj Festival in Agra is an annual ten day event, which is celebrated with extravaganza and enthusiasm and displays the rich cultural heritage of the country and showcases the handpicked specimens of Indian craftsmanship. This festival is the most awaited one among the people in the state of Uttar Prdesh, which is held at Silpagram near Taj Mahal.
More commonly known as the Taj Mahotsav at Agra, the festivity is admired for its cultural vibrancy at a sole platform, which brings together the finest Indian crafts with cultural touches. The festival marks its beginning on the 18th of February and forms a part of the culturally rich state of Uttar Pradesh.
Concluding on the 27th of the very month, the festival is an introduction to the cultural heritage of the country and of the state where it take place. At the festival, there is a grand display of the magnificent possessions, which are reminiscent of the Mughal Era. There is also the showcasing of the extensive arts, crafts and culture of India.
At the event, festooned elephants and camels, donned drum beaters, folk artists and master craftsmen explore and display their respective talents, recreate the glorious past of the Mughals. Other cultural and traditional activities that are held at the event are folk music, shayari (poetry) and classical dance performances as well as games and food festival, all forming a part of the revelry.
The Taj Mahotsav in Agra is celebrated with great gusto. There are some of the exclusive performances by some of the best classical artists. The entire show will leave you spell bound with its breath taking performances. Also, there are some of the exclusive performances of the the Sapera dance of Rajasthan, Lavani of Maharashtra and Nautanki.
These live performances fill the air with great zest and zeal, and will make you indulge into it as you will realize that with the performances you start off with the tapping of your feet. There are various exhibitions of wood carvings of Saharanpur, brass and other metal ware of Moradabad, handmade carpets of Badohi, pottery of Khurja, chickan-work of Lucknow, the silk of Banaras and much more.
