Singanallur Lake

Singanallur Lake

Singanallur Lake is nestled in Singanallur, Coimbatore; an establishing city of the state of Tamil Nadu. The lake is an addition to the Valankulam Lake as both these lakes are located in the heart of the city.

Also there I an unusual thing about this lake as a railway track pass through this lake, which connects the cities connecting Podanur and Irugur. The lake is an abode to more than 110 species of birds. The backdrop is all in the combination of blue and white as on the lake the most spotted birds are in white color yet in some parts of the lake one can spot grey colored birds as well. This lake is a p[erfect destination for the birdwatchers making it a birdwatcher’s paradise.

Here one can spot birds with different colors and sizes, passerines and non-passerines, domestic and migratory birds. The most commonly spotted birds on the lake are pheasant-tailed jacana, western Rees egret, painted snipes, spot-billed ducks, spot-billed pelicans, painted storks, glossy ibis and western marsh harrier.
