Siliguri stands as the third largest city in the north eastern Indian state of West Bengal. It is the administrative headquarters of Siliguri subdivision along with a part of the Darjeeling district.


The city is sprawled over an area of about 48.3 sq km and is positioned on the banks of the Mahananda River, which lies at the foothill of the Himalayan Mountains, in the northern part of the state. The mighty Mahanadi River traverses through the heart of the city segregating it into two halves.


The city rests on the narrow corridor or can say a strip of land, which connects the state to the north east states of the country; and is also a hub in the transport industry. The city of Siliguri has one of the highest literacy rates in the state along with holding a large number of educational institutions.


This commercial city of West Bengal is bestowed with nature and is the nerve centre for all the activities in the area.
