One of the beautiful masterpieces of India, shore temple is situated in southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu, in the town called Mahabalipuram. Close to the sea shore of Bay of Bengal, this shore temple is an important tourist destination in Mahabalipuram and is also recognized as world’s heritage site by UNESCO. Built with blocks of granite from the 8th century AD, the shore temple is an amzing structural monument of India. It is the oldest structural stone temple of south India. This five-storeyed Hindu temple is built in pyramid style standing 60 feet high and resting on a 50 feet square platform. The temple is the combination of three shrines, where the Lord Vishnu temple is located between the two Lord Shiva temples. The temple is considered as a form of display of art by the Pallavas. People can have great time visiting this structural ancient monument. Large number of tourist visits the place every year to explore the mesmerizing architecture of the shore temple. Apart from that, the adjoining shore of bay of Bengals is the additional charm that holds tourists to this place. Some of the other important temples situated around the city and state are The Ganesha Ratha, the Varaha Cave, the Old Light House, Krishna’s Butter Ball, Gopi’s Churn, Valayankuttai Ratha and Kodikal Mandapam.
