Shimla also called as simla, can be said as a paradise on earth, lies in the midst of the Himalayas at an altitude of 2,205 above the sea level. The city derived its name from Shayamla, which is another name for Goddess Kali. The Queen of Hill Stations is the apt title given to the city in the course of honoring it for its sheer beauty. The city is spread over an area of about 18sq kms. In the erstwhile century, British honored the city as the capital of the state Himachal Pradesh.

Climate of Shimla The climate of Shimla remains at a pleasant state throughout a year and that make it to be the best hill station. The city is packed with the tourist almost all the year around. The duration of summers here is from April to June and the temperature never exceeds 27 degree Celsius. Then in July monsoon takes it centre place, which brings down the temperature and maintains it in between 15 degree Celsius and 25degree Celsius. Shimla By Air: You can reach here by air at Jubbarhatti, which is located at a distance of 23 kilometers from the main city center. Flights from New Delhi, Chandigarh and Kullu are regular such as Jagson Airlines.

Shimla By Rail: The nearest railway station that connects Shimla to neighboring states is at Kalka at a distance of 96 kms.

Shimla By Road: Shimla is connected to the places like New Delhi and Chandigarh through national highways.
