Shamirpet Lake is a manmade which was constructed by the then jagirdar of the, dating back to almost over 50 years back. The lake is situated in the vicinity of Hyderabad at a distance of about 27 km and is also near to the twin city of Hyderabad, Secunderabad at a distance of about 24 km. the lake was constructed during the reign of the Nizam.
With its tranquil waters and greenery all around makes it a nice weekend getaway. The lake renders a splendid view of giant rocks that allow the stream to flow throw the lake. The lake also attracts birds, ranging from domestic to the migratory ones making it a good bird watching spot. The lake is situated just close to the Outer Ring Road.
The other excursion from the lake is the famous Jawahar Deer Park which houses quite a number of deer, peacocks and different species of birds. This deer park is also maintained by the Government of Andhra Pradesh. Another attraction of the lake is that this park has been the witnessed of the shooting of many Telugu Films and still becomes a part of many movies. The other landmark of the lake is the Nalsar University of Law, which is located near the lake.
