It is the third largest museums of India and is best known for the collection of antique pieces and artifacts from the history. The museum was built with the efforts of Nawab Mir Yousuf Ali Khan Salar Jung III as well as the Prime Minister of the seventh Nizam who was passionate for collecting valuable antiques. Some of the unique items displayed at the museum include the Veiled Rebecca, Marguerite & Mephistopheles (a two sided sculpture), the Sword of Aurangazeeb, gem studded daggers of Emperors Jahangir & Shah Jahan and Queen Noor Jahan, etc.


The Salarjung Museum has the largest single man collection in the world. The museum is known for the largest collection of sculptures, paintings, carvings, textiles, manuscripts, ceramics, metallic artifacts, carpets, clocks, and furniture from Japan, China, Burma, Nepal, India, Persia, Egypt, Europe, and North America. The Salarjung Museum is located at Darushifa, on the southern bank of the Musi River in the city of Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India. It remains open from 10.00 am – 5.00 pm on all the days except on Fridays and on public holidays. The entry fee to visit the museum is Rs.10 for Indians and Rs.150 for foreigners.
