Located 24kms away from the Gangtok city in Sikkim, Rumtek Monastery is one of the most important sites or every Buddhist. The monastery was built under the supervision of with the financial assistance of the fourth king of Sikkim. Also known as the Dharma Chakra Centre, the monastery was built in the 16th century. This monastery with four stories is one of the largest monasteries in whole Sikkim.


There is a little hall in the monastery with the Jewel studded golden Stupa of Cgorten. Several Tibetan festivals are organized in the monastery throughout the year including Tse-Chu Chaam and Kagyat Dance. Rumtek Monastery travel and tourism offers an immense pleasure of travelling to this place.


The nearest airport to the place is Bagdogra and it is well connected to the various important states and cities of the country. Along with that, Siliguri and New Jalpaiguri are the closest railheads to reach the Rumtek Monastery. You can also reach the destination via roadways buses via Gangtok and other places in Sikkim. A part from that, the climate at the monastery remains pleasantly old throughout the year. Tourists can visit the place in almost all the months except for July and August that are the monsoons months.
