Ramgarh Tal Lake

The lake known as Ramgarh Taal is situated near the city of Gorakhpur in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. The river is sprawled over an area of 723 hectares with having embankment of 18 km long.


The lake lies on the south eastern side of the city of Gorakhpur and to the southern side of the metallic road to the Kasia in the district of Deoria is the Ramgarh Taal. Initially in the earlier times, this lake was covered due to which there is a dense growth of reeds, of which has been cleared it off for it was creating a menace to the health of the people living in and around the area. The floating water in this pond creates water pollution with giving a base for growth to the water floating plant known as water hyacinth.


Here in the lake there are different varieties of fishes. In a recent past the area has been reduced from 123 hectares to 669 hectares and the depth of the lake has also reduced from 4.5 m in 1998 to 3.8 m in 2006
