Situated in Bharati Park, Pondicherry museum is the one of the great places to visit for tourists in India. The museum houses the unique collection of sculptures. The museum also has a wide collection of sea shells that were brought from the beach. The relics displayed at the museum reveals a lot about the trade that takes place in Pondicherry with the Roman Empire in the early centuries.


Pondicherry museum is featured with various means of transport used in the early period of the colonial rule in Pondicherry. Tourists here can also get to know the details of the history of legendary French colonial in the variety of sections of the museum. Apart from that, a wide gathering of temple lamps, bronze sculptures of god and goddess, handicrafts and art are also exhibited at the museum. Wide variety of temple laps, handicrafts and art work is also there at the museum. The sculpture gallery at the museum is known for its stunning artifacts belonging to Cholas and Pallavas of Pondicherry and Karaikal.


The central part of the ground floor of this museum has 3 curios transport mechanisms, a palanquin and a pousse-pousse. This pousse-pousse requires two attendants for steering and pushing it. Apart from these, there are many other fabulous things which you can explore at the museum. Entry fee to the Pondicherry museum is just Rs 15. It remains open from 10 am – 1 pm in morning and 2 pm and 5 pm in the evening.
