Phek district of Nagaland has its block headquarters recognized with the name of Pfutsero. It is the highest and the coldest place in Nagaland where temperature reaches to its lowest in winters. The place is the resident place of Khezhas and Chokris.  People of Pfutsero are Christians with Christianity as the main religion. “Tsukhenye” is the festival celebrated by the Khezhas community of the town. On the other hand, “Sukrunyi” is the other festival celebrated by the Chokris community. It is the great time to get close to the culture of both the communities.


Pfutsero is the commercially important place in Phek district. The Baptist Theological College of Pfutsero is one of the best and the oldest college in Nagaland. One can have the clear view of Mt. Himalaya from this peak. Zunheboto, Tuensang and Kohima districts could also be seen from there. World War -II Japanese Cave and Miracle Cave are the major tourist attractions in Pfutsero. You can also visit to Leshemi Village which is the oldest village of Pfutsero block.

Being the coolest and the highest place in Nagaland, Pfutsero remains cool almost all its months. The place enjoys temperate climate and a beautiful hilly area. Summers remains mild and pleasant. Whereas, in winters temperature drops to the lowest along with snow fall on some days. It is best to know about the climate very well so that you can plan and pack your bags accordingly. Also, it is preferred not to travel at the time when the area gets blocked due to heavy snowfall.


How to reach Pfutsero


Pfutsero By Air: If you want to travel Pfutsero by air then reach Dimapur airport which is 70 km away from the town. You can take taxi or bus from airport to reach Pfutsero town.


Pfutsero By Rail: Rangapahar, Dimapur and Guwahati railway station are the nearest options for Pfutsero. After reaching to any one of the stations you can take any of the local taxi or bus that will drop you to Pfutsero.


Pfutsero By Road: Bus facility is available for Pfutsero from various cities and states. National Highway 155 is the passing way through Pfutsero. You can first connect to Dimapur or Guwahati from the respective bus service and then reach the Pfutsero block through the Nagaland State Transport buses or the taxis that are available there.
