Peermade adds to the magnificent list of panoramic hill stations in the state of Kerala. The hill station stands at an altitude of 915 m above sea level and is situated in Idukki district with a distance of 40 km from the town Kumily. This gorgeous hill station is all enveloped with green backdrop with its lush green forests which enhances the beauty of Western Ghats in central Kerala.
Peermade derived its name from a Sufi Saint, who was also an associate of Prophet Peer Mohammad. The literal meaning of the name is ‘the hill of the peer’. The lush green vegetation and plantations in the hills includes cardamom, eucalyptus, tea, rubber and coffee. Natural grasslands, waterfalls and pine forests enhance the overall grandeur and make it a famous summer resort.
