Pavagada Fort

Pavagada fort is a fort which is nestled on the top of the hill that stands in the panchayat town of Pavagada. The town of Pavagada forms a part of the district of Tumkur which happens to be in the Indian state of Karnataka.


This hill fort of Pavagada was set up by the great king of the Vijynagar Dynasty. Historically, the fort forms a part of the Mysore Dynasty. The fort also has the evidences and imprints of the violent battle that happened between the great ruler Tipu Sultan and the British rulers.


Geographically the fort comes under the province of Karnataka. The fort stands at the holy land of Tumkur, which is believed to be the land where the Hindu Diety Lord Rama and Goddess Sita rested on their way back to Ayodhaya.


Other excursions of the fort tour are the famous and revered temples.
