This wildlife sanctuary has been situated in a proposed location, earmarked in the Dindigul district of the south Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The Palani Hills National Park and wildlife sanctuary is sprawled over a land of around 736.87 sq km. the recently established wildlife sanctuary dates back to 2008 as its origin year in Palini district of the state of Tamil Nadu.


It was named after the temple town of Palani, which is situated at the northern base of the Hills. The sanctuary is commonly observed with the tourists and nature lovers boarding on wildlife safaris to the Palani Hills National Park. The fauna in Palani consists of tropical forests and grassland.


The vegetation in the forest gives an ideal habitat for various species like elephants, Nilgiri tahr, gaurs, giant squirrels, wild boars etc. The rivers and lakes in the forest are habitat for a large number of fishes and make large number of animals to gather here in summers. The best time to visit this park is in the months of October until March.


The Geographical coordinates of this location are 1007’ – 100 28’ N and 77016’ -77046’ E. Main and central location of this area falls under the geographical coordinates 10°14′43″N 77°31′26″E. Silver Cascade Waterfall is just 1.5 kilometers far from this location. The park is placed at an accessible location as is in the east of northeast of Silver Cascade Waterfall and just 4 km from Kodaikanal Lake.
