Amongst the number of museum in India, Odisha state museum is one of the major tourisms attractions in the state of Orissa. Displayed with wide variety of antiquities, Odisha state museum is one of the main institutions providing the evidence of the rich cultural heritage of the region. The entrance of the museum is featured with two life size dancing welcome statues in Odissi dance posture. Inside the museum is exhibited with the variety of archaeological objects, art and craft objects, natural history objects, Bronze Age tools and stone sculptures.
Established in 1948 by N.C. Banerjee and Professor Ghanshyam Dash of Ravenshaw College, the Odisha state museum is displayed with bronze images, traditional and folk musical instruments, coins, copper plates, prehistoric objects, ethnological objects and armoury. Known for the huge collection of manuscripts on palm-leaves, the museum was formally declared by the Government of Orissa in 1938. Tourists will get to see a palm leaf manuscript of 12th century devotional poem Gita Govinda in the museum. Other than that, the museum is further exhibited with the variety of traditional and folk musical instruments and sculptures of different shapes and sizes that showcases the impressive culture of the region.

Entry fee t the museum is Rs. 5 for adults and Rs.1 for children. Also, if you want to take camera along with you, then you need to pay Rs10 extra for that.
