Nelliyampathy, one of the famous hill stations in Kerala, is considered the ‘Gateway to Kerala’. With its fertile valleys, splashing mountain streams, abundant flora and charming aromatic blossoms together make Nelliyampathy one of the favorite holiday destinations in Kerala. Nestled in the town of Nenmara in Palakkad district, the hill station is blessed with the cloud-caressed peaks of the magnificent Nelliyampathy hill ranges. The height of the peaks ranges from 462m to 1527m rendering it a rustic look.


This beautiful hill valley lies just next to the Kerala – Tamil Nadu border. The hill ranges are an undivided part of the Sahyadri ranges that lies in the Western Ghats. Nelliyampathy is all swathed with valleys and lush green forests. The mountain range is sprawled with various tea, coffee and cardamom plantations. The hill station is a home to a number of wild animals like wild elephants, hill squirrels, Indian gaur, leopards and bisons, along with many birds to witness.


There are other various exclusive picnic spots like Pothundy Dam, providing an opportunity of boating as a recreation. Besides this, there is also geographical formation called ‘Palakkad Gap’, which is another source of attraction for the people, on the hill station.


Palagapandi Estate, the resort at the highest peak of Nelliyampathy, keeps remnants of the magnificent past.  A bungalow, inspired by the British origin and land covered with enormous plantations nestles in the lap of the very hill station makes it a breath-taking hang out place. For the adventure lovers, there is another place to explore called Mampara, which holds its specialty of being a perfect trekking destination of this hill station.


This famous holiday spot is accessible through roads. From the hills of Nelliyampathy, you can also have a nice view on the Sholayar pass. Other tourists attractions near  Nelliyampathy  are Seethakundu, Parambikulam, Malampuzha, Koothampully, Padagiri Peak, Tipus Fort, Mayiladumpara, Silent Valley and Meenavallam Falls.Nelliyampathy has a well developed network of roadways. The nearest rail station is at Palakkad and the nearest airport is at Coimbatore.
