Muzaffarnagar

The town of Muzaffarnagar is positioned in the northern part of the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. The district of Muzaffarnagar makes a part of Saharanpur division and is nestled in the DOAB of the River Ganges and the Jamuna, which flows between the districts of Meerut on the south and Saharanpur on the northern side. On the western side of the town, there falls a newly formed district known as Shamli and on its eastern side the river Ganges forms the boundary between the very district and the Bijnor tahsil of the district of same name. The town stands as a municipal board. The city was formed by a Sayyid Jagirdar named Munawar Lashkar Ali during the Mughal period. In order to honor his father, Muzaffar Ali Khan he named the place with the present name of the city. The town is in a rectangular shape. The town is sprawled over an area of about 4,049 sq km. It is considered as the most developing city of Western Uttar Pradesh after Meerut, Noida and Ghaziabad.
