Murud Janjira Beach is situated at a distance of about 190 km from the city of Pune, which falls in the Indian state of Maharashtra. The beach is one of the popular tourist attractions in Maharashtra. The beach is flanked by lush green foliage rendering it a beautiful natural backdrop and also has safe waters making it an ideal spot to indulge into water sports such as swimming, boating and deep sea fishing as these are common and popular activities here held on the beach.


The place also holds historical importance as the city of Murud, where the beach lies had once been the capital of the state Janjira and had also been ruled by the Nawabs of Janjira. The Janjira Fort that has been poked out from the sea is located near Murud. The beach is enclosed with the rocky outcrops, which extends up to 2 km.


The hills situated in close proximity to the beaches Murud and Janjeera host a spectacular shrine which is dedicated to lord Dattatreya. The deity in this shrine has unique features as it the three heads, and is the incarnation of the Brahma, Vishnu, and Maheswara. This magnificent temple renders a beautiful site of the panoramic view of the entire shoreline, which makes the voyage to the hilltop a commendable experience.
