Mandawa Fort

Mandawa Fort

The fort of Mandawa is nestled in the midst of the rocky Aravallis, which stands as one of the most gorgeous forts in the Indian state of Rajasthan. The Mandawa Fort in Mandawa happens to be in the Shekhawati region in Rajasthan and holds the authentication of the yore days of grandeur and splendor.

Mandawa used to be a dull rural community in Rajasthan and was founded in the 18th century. However, it became a trading post by the rich merchants, who built here a number of palatial mansions. All these majestic structures, which were built here in the region, bear historical importance, each telling a tale of its own.

This beautiful and magnificent Mandawa Fort was constructed by Nawal Singh, who was the first direct successor of the Shekhawati rulers. This fort also paved way in the development of this small township, around the region.

The Mandawa Fort in Mandawa is one of the stunning forts. This imposing fort stands high above the Aravalli Hills renders a panoramic view of the quaint city. The fort is comprised of painted archways which are decorated with striking styles of art and frescos of Lord Krishna along with His cowherds. The colossal palatial manor house has a wide variety of themes that beautify the interiors of the fort.

The rooms inside the fort are all displayed with frescos and some intricate mirror works. The style of art and architecture that has been done in the interiors of the fort gives a reflection of the medieval period. The walls of the fort are also decorated with a number of portraits.

The Mandawa Fort has been transformed into a heritage hotel and it has reduced its old world charm. The fort is easy to reach out as it is located just at a distance of about 167 km from Jaipur Airport and also has a nearby railhead.
