The ‘City of Nawabs’ holds a festival, which is the most awaited one among the local people of the city, the Lucknow Festival. The festival is celebrated between 25th November and 5th December and captures the enduring elegance and magnificence of the ancient city Awadh, presently known as Lucknow, also the state capital of Uttar Pradesh.
This ten days long event paves the chance to the visitors to have an insight about the culture and traditions of the city of Lucknow. The festival encompasses colorful parades, music and dance performances which include traditional dramas, Kathak dances in the style of the famous Lucknow Gharana, Sarangi and sitar recitals along with ghazals, qawalis and thumri produce a cheerful atmosphere and fetch in life to the calm and serene city. Also, at the event there are some exciting activities that are held at the event such as races, kite flying, cock fighting, ekka etc and other customary village games etc, recreating the atmosphere of the long-back Nawabi days.
