Jharkhand known for its number of fairs and festivals, accounts for a major celebration done in the name of Kolhua Mela. Kolhua Mela is one of the famous festivals amongst the people in Jharkhand. Every year a huge crowd visit to celebrate the fair with great enthusiasm.


The Kolhua Mela of Jharkhand is celebrated at the place known as Hunterganj. The place is at the distance of 120 km from the Kolhua Hill in the Chatra district of Jharkhand. One of the ancient fairs of the state held in an old temple of Goddess Kali on top of the Kolhua hill. The temple is also famous as the temple of the ‘Kuleshwari Devi’. There is also a water tank at the top of the hill.  A large number of people used to visit the place from all over the country. One needs to trek to the hill to reach the temple of Goddess Kali. It is not easy to reach the venue of the fair. The way to this temple is steep and has no rest house in between. However, once you reach the top of the hill, you will forget the toughness of the way as the surroundings there are very beautiful, serene and so pleasant.


Kolhua Mela is celebrated twice in a year at the time of Magh Vasanth Panchami and Ram Navami. Thus, it is great to visit such a beautiful place especially at the time of the fair.
