The beach, Kavaratti is situated at Kavaratti, which stands as the administrative capital of Lakshadweep. The island is 6 km long and 1 km wide. There are about 52 mosques stationed at the Kavaratti beach. All these mosques are well ornamented, which gives these an opportunity to become a part of the major tourist destinations.


One of the most convoluted and elaborated mosque among all these mosques is Urjja, which was built in the 17th century by Sheikh Mohammad Kasim. Kavaratti beach is regarded as the most well developed beaches of Lakshadweep.


Another attraction in the beach is its aquarium which is placed at the Kavaratti beach itself. The major attraction of this aquarium is small shark. Other aquatic forms of life can also be seen in this aquarium such as sea cucumbers, anemones and octopuses. There is also a museum segment that makes another attraction of the aquarium. It comprises shells, various types of fishes and corals.


The beach also provides opportunity to enjoy scuba diving at Dolphin Dive Center. It stands next to the aquarium and also offers a variety of PADI programs for professional as well as amateur divers. The beach also provides opportunity for activities like water sports such as sailing, kayaking, water skiing, Canoeing, Snorkeling and paddle boats. There are glass bottom boats available at the beach, which are used for screening of marine life.


The visitors of Kavaratti beach can enjoy rides on inflated boats. The best time to visit the place is in the months of November to April. Bangaram and Agatti are the nearest airports to Kavaratti beach. The visitors may also have cruises from Mumbai.
