The Kangla Fort is an important architectural and historical place lies in the Imphal city of Manipur state in India. Situated on the banks of Imphal River, the word “Kangla” of the Kangla Fort means “dry land” in old Meitei language. During ancient times, ‘Kangla’ was the royal palace of the King Pakhangba in 33 A.D. ‘Kangla’ remains the ancient capital of Manipur till Imphal came into existence in 1891. The brick walls were constructed around the city in 1632 A.D. The fort is surrounded by a moat. The place was under the control of Assam Rifles until 2003. However, now it is open for public viewing to explore the amount of archaeological, religious and historical value. Kangla Fort travel and tourism provides the great way of exploring the place.
