Jallianwala Bagh is an important historical destination where the Jallianwala massacre took place. This historical garden is located near golden temple in Amritsar city of Punjab state, India. The garden hosts a memorial which was established in 1951 to pay homage to the people who lost their lives in the incident. This memorial was built as per the Jallianwala Bagh National Memorial Act passed by the Government of India. Jallianwala bagh massacre is now managed by Jallianwala Bagh National Memorial Trust.


A 45 foot red stone pillar in the shape of flame was built in the Jallianwala Bagh in 1961. The bullet marks on the walls and the point from where 1600 rounds of bullets were fired by troops on innocent people is still visible and can be explored by the tourists visiting the park.


The Jallianwala bagh spread in an area of 26,000 sq. meters also hosts a martyr’s gallery which is available with the portraits of some freedom fighters. Every year large number of tourists visits Jallianwala bagh in order to see the place of the historical incident and to pay homage to the ones who killed in the incident.
