Himayat Sagar is a manmade lake lies parallel to another famous lake known as Osman Sagar in the city of Hyderabad, which forms a part of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. This petite lake has storage capacity of about 3.0 TMC.


The lake is named after Himayat Ali Khan. Himayat Ali Khan was the youngest son of the seventh Nizam of Hyderabad. The verdant area that surrounds also has its contribution in making the lake as one of the ideal spot for picnic. The location of the lake is an advantage it receives its seasonal showers and little rains in the rest of the year, showing the effort of a practical engineer named Late Khaja Mohinuddin S/O Mohammed Hussein.


The primary purpose of the lake was the storage of the rain water from the Indian Monsoon, in order to meet the liquid requirements of the people living in the area. Apart from solving the drinking and irrigation needs, this lake was also intended to make a balance of the groundwater level of the area.


The lake is popular for its road which is on the embankment of Himayat Sagar Lake gives an invigorating driving experience with its smooth length. The area is a perfect blend of clear space, dazzling water and lush green foliage, which makes it an ideal tourist spot.
