Hill Place Museum

Hill palace museum is one of the oldest and the largest museums in Kerala. Built in 186 and was once the official residence of the royal family of Kochi. Hill place museum has 49 building, all built in traditional Kerala architecture. Being the first Heritage Museum in Kerala, the place is now also qualified to be an Ethno archeological museum. Enclosed by terraced lands, the museum building is spread over 52 acres and is beautified with ponds, fountains and lawns. From inside, the museum is exhibited with wide variety of paintings, murals, manuscripts, inscriptions, carvings and sculptures, mainly from the Travencore Royal House, Paliam Devaswom and the archeological department. Apart from these, gold crown ornamented with precious stones, coins, epigraphy samples and majestic beds are the other major attraction at the museum. Gallery of contemporary art and the Paliam Gallery are the other important aspects you will get to see at the Hill Place Museum.


Hill place museum remains closed on Mondays and can be visited 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM in morning and from 02:00 PM to 04:30 PM in the evening on all the other days. The entry fee for the museum is Rs 10 for adults and Rs 5 for children.
