Gwalior Fort is one of the famous monuments that lies in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. Built in 8th century on an isolated hillock, the Gwalior fort provides the amazing view of whole Gwalior city. It is one of the largest forts of India, having a great historical significance. The fort has been the battle field for the great martyrs of India including Tantiya Tope and Jhansi ki Rani. Situated on a hilly terrain, the fort offers the amazing view of the Gwalior valley. The massive Gwalior Fort is one of the classic examples of the medieval architecture. Spread across the area of about 3 sq km, the fort is constructed at the height of 100 metres above the city.


The fort has two important parts named as the main fort and the other with Palaces such as Gurjari Mahal and the Man Mandir palace. The Palaces were built by Raja Man Singh Tomar and the Gurjari Mahal was built for his favourite queen, Mrignayani, which is now converted into an Archaeological Museum. Gwalior Fort travel and tourism provides the best way of travelling to this wonderful place. Surrounded by walls of sandstone, the fort attracts large number of tourist every year for its rock faces with intricate carvings of the Jain tirthankaras.
