Goa’s first and the only ethnography museum Chitra is an amazing place providing immense e pleasure of exploring Goan culture and tradition. Situated in the former Portugal colony, this wonderful museum provides the opportunity to see the vast collection of about 4000 artifacts depicting the typical Goa lifestyle and its various other aspects. The collection at the museum includes local pottery, farming tools, musical instruments, ancient carts, palanquins etc. Apart from that, the structure of Chitra museum is a great combination of modern and tradition designing.


Goa Chitra museum aims at displaying the age-old tradition and making the younger generation know about it. The museum also organizes workshops and events related to museology, anthropology, ethnography, archeology, art, history and culture. Goa Chitra art gallery showcases the work of artists and artisans, organic farm demonstrating, various crops and composting methods etc.


located in Benaulim, on the St. John the Baptist church road, Mondo-Waddo, the museum remains open on all the days except Mondays from 9.00 am and 6.00 pm.
