Daria Daulat Bagh, the summer place of Tipu Sultan stands as the testimony of the sultan’s admiration for the nature. It is positioned on the banks of the River Cauvery in one of the major cities of the Indian state of Karnataka. The spot is one of the exotic locales in the city which takes its visitors to the Srirangapatna, the former capital of Tippu Sultan where he stayed till his demise in 1799.
Daria Daulat Bagh has been constructed in Indo-Islamic style. The monument is all flanked by exquisite panoramic gardens and the majestic space personifying the existence of the great King, Tipu Sultan. The Tiger of Mysore built this monument as his summer place in the year 1784 and took his control over the city of Mysore, after the death of his father Hyder Ali.
The Daria Daulat Bagh palace is generally created out of teakwood is one of the finest specimens of Indo-Sarcenic style and architecture. The edifice stands on a pedestal ranging 1.5 m height from the ground. The monument is placed at just a 15 km drive from the city of Mysore.
The most interesting part of Daria Daulat Bagh is that the structure has lofty walls, magnificent pillars, canopies and adorned arches which are painted with rich and colorful pictures. The inner walls have the imprints of floral designs while the fortifications that are erected at the outer side depict the scenes of the battles with gruesome facts along with the portraits of the great leaders.
There is also a huge collection of collection of coins, paintings and personal belongings of Tipu Sultan which is displayed at the Tipu Sultan Museum on its top floor which is constructed in the Daria Daulat Bagh of Karnataka.
The fort is opened for 365 days and 24*7, yet the best time would in the month of September till March, as during these months the city enjoys a pleasant climate making you journey quite comfortable.
