Nestled in the state of Jharkhand in eastern India, Bokaro Steel City is an abode to the largest steel complex. This industrial city is the headquarters of the Bokaro district of Jharkhand. The city goes well with its name as it houses one of the major steel plants.


Once had been a remote area, now is developed into a fast pacing city. It is believed that the transformation of the city was the idea and vision of Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru. Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru with Soviets planned and accomplished the first Swadeshi steel plant of India. The Bokaro Steel Plant was envisaged in 1959 and it established in 1965.


With the erection of the plant, the area turned into a township within a span of three decades. At present the city has been developed into the educational hub of Eastern India. The city is just at a distance of 47km from Dhanbad on the southern bank of the River Damodar, which goes along with the Dhanbad-Ranchi Highway.
