Bangaram happens to be as one of the part of the islands in the smallest Union Territory of India, Lakshadweep Islands. The island is bordered by shallow waters from all the sides. This shallow lagoon is further enclosed with the coral reef. The beach is stretched to the extent of 2.30 sq km and is formed naturally in a shape of tear drop. This island has been acknowledged with the title of ‘Jewel of Lakshadweep’.


The island lies between 10°56’ North Latitude and 72°17’ East Longitude, Bangaram is also the most important and most famous island of Lakshadweep. The island is thinly populated; and is known for its coral formation, especially for black coral, coral reefs and turquoise blue lagoons.


The island renders several beautiful beaches and reefs to explore, which gives an option to get involved in various water sports and other activities. The major attraction of Bangaram Island is traveling around the underwater world, giving divers a chance to spot a variety of coral fish such as clown, angel, surgeon and butterfly. Along with these, manta rays, sharks, turtles and sting rays, moray eels can also be spotted in the beaches of the very island.


There is a variety of flora and fauna, which can be explored in the clear waters of the Indian Ocean. With its crystal clear warm waters, swimming happens to be a common activity in beaches of Bangaram. In addition, the island is one of the perfect spots for deep sea big game fishing.


The other water sports that the island offers are snorkeling, scuba diving and deep sea fishing. Agatti Island and Kadmat Island falls in a close proximity to the Bangaram Island. So, on an excursion to the very island; you can also plan for these as well. Bangaram Island experiences a pleasant weather throughout the year.


The nearest airport is at Agatti Airport, and from here there are major international flights available at regular intervals from Cochin International Airport to the island. Cruises are also available from Cochin Harbour
