Anshi National Park is located at a distance of 60 km from Karwar in Uttara Kannada district. Initially on 10 May 1956, the forest in the region was constituted as the Dandeli wildlife sanctuary. Later on a section of Dandeli wildlife sanctuary was declared to form the Anshi National Park. Anshi National Park was honored with the status of Project Tiger sanctuary in January 2007.


This national park is elevated at a height which ranges between 200 m to 925 m above sea level. Anshi National Park has abundant of flora and fauna. The vegetation which you can witness here includes Bamboo, Teak, Eucalyptus, Lantana, Silver Oak, Bauhinia and Xylia xylocarpa.


Anshi National Park is also a home to a variety of species of animals such as Bonnet Macaque, Malabar Civet, Malabar giant squirrel, Indian bison, pangolin and sloth bear. The Park is also a home to melanistic leopard, tigers and elephants. Among other wildlife animals, Sambar, Wild dog, Elephant, Porcupine, Mouse deer, Wild boar, spotted deer etc.


Reptiles like King Cobra, Krait, Python, Rat snake and Viper are commonly found here. Along with that one can also witness few avian species as it houses more than 200 types of birds. These include great pied hornbill, Malabar hornbill, ceylon, frogmouth, heron, water fowl, duck, adjutant stork, ashy black-crested crested serpent eagle, great hornbill, golden-backed woodpecker, bulbul, blue-headed pitta, wood swallow, brahminy kite, broad-billed roller, and yellow-footed green pigeon.


Another attraction here is the Ulavi Channa Basaveshwara Temple which is located just outside the south eastern boundary of the Park and there is also the Kadra Valley view point which is just at a distance of 12 km from the park.


The best time to visit Anshi National Park is between November and June. You can reach the Anshi National Park via Karwar, which is just at a distance of 6o km from here. The other nearest place from where you can reach here is Belgaum at a distance of 110 km, which also has an airport and the nearest railhead is at Karwar, Londa and Dharwad.
