Amravati Stupa is an important tourist’s attraction in Andhra Pradesh state of India. It is an amazing destination displaying the Buddhist art and ancient Indian architecture. 65 km from Vijayawada, the famous Amravati Stupa lies on the right bank of river Krishna. Larger than the Sanchi Stupa, Amaravati Stupa was constructed at the place some 2000 years ago. Amravati Stupa also known as Deepaladinne or the Mound of Lamps or Mahastupa (locally), is made of brick with a circular vedika and 95 ft high platforms protruding in four cardinal directions. The largest stupa in the country is today available with its ruins only. The large number of people visits the place just to see the remains of the Buddhism culture at the site.


The Amravati Stupa which is also known as the Mahachaitya Stupa is the major architectural monument in Andhra Pradesh state. The place is easily accessible through all the three mediums of transportation including air rail and road networks. Tourist visiting the Stupa can also visit to the nearby tourist attractions including Amareswara Temple, Potala, Nagarjunakonda and Dharankota.
