Amer Fort is pronounced as Amber Fort happens to stand on the territory of Amer, which was the capital of the Indian state of Rajasthan, prior to Jaipur. The fort popularly known as Amer Fort claims to be as one of the oldest fort in the state which was built in the year 1592. The fort was constructed by Raja Man Singh. It was created out of red sandstone and marble.


The fort dates back to the medieval times, yet it has retained its eminence with its beautiful interiors and various prominent buildings such as Diwan-i-Aam, the Sheesh Mahal and even the Sukh Mahal, which stand boasting about their beauty and elegant interiors. The fort of Amer is a perfect amalgamation of both Hindu and Muslim Culture.


The other attractions in the fort are Shila Devi Temple and Ganesh Pol. The fort of Amer consists of several porches and halls, which are of great interests of the tourists. The lake named as Maotha Lake traverses through the fort, adding an additional charm to it.


The history 0ofg the fort states that it was once known to be called as Dhundar and was under the reign of Kachhwahas, during the period between 11th century and 16th century. The fort is believed to have been constructed by Raja Man Singh in the year 1592 AD and Raja Jai Singh 1 is believed to have expanded and renovated the fort, in the later periods.


The main entrance opens up with the Suraj Pol, also known as the Sun Gate and leads to the main courtyard. One of the courtyards in the Amer Palace is known as the Jaleb Chowk. Another courtyard of the palace is known by a name asDiwan-i-Aam, which is commonly known as the Public Audience Hall. Another attraction which mesmerizes its spectators is the popular fresco which has been carved out of marble and is known as the Magic Flower.


The nearby excursions from the Amer Fort are Jaigarh Fort, Aravalli Hills and Vijay Garh. The popular attraction in the palace is the elephant ride, which will provide you to explore the region on a royal ride.
