Located in the heart of the city Maharashtra, Ahmednagar fort is the famous tourist attractions of India. This circular shaped fort was built by Ahmed Nizam Shah has almost 22 bastions and is surrounded by an 18 meter tall wall. It is the same fort where in 1942 the first prime minister of India, Jawahar lal Nehru wrote a book named ‘The Discovery of India’ in his detention period. There are two entrances to the fort which can be reached only after one goes over the moat. The fort was also used as a prison for keeping the captured soldiers. The fort is ruled by the two main dynasties i.e. the Marathas and the Mughals. Today, Ahmednagar fort is under the control of the military command of India. The fort is surrounded by babul and other trees. There is also a rover that passes through the southward of the fort. During the British rule, the fort served as a jail to the leaders of Indian National Congress during the Quit India Movement.
