Sprawled over the majestic territory of Maharashtra over an area of 120 sq km, the Tadoba National Park is considered as divine and is renowned for its historic importance.


The park is hovered at an altitude of 200 m, lying in the south of Nagpur, which happens to be at a distance of 45 km from the north of Chandrapur town. Tadoba National Park is the oldest national park in the State of Maharashtra as was established in 1935 and declared in 1955 as a reserve. Thereafter, this park became one of the important landmarks of Mumbai.


The park derived its name from “Taru” the local deity of the region, whereas the Andhari River strolling in the forests has rendered to the sanctuary its name as Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve. The park is also acknowledged as “Jewel of Vidarbha”. Since 1993, the park has been stated as India’s Project Tiger Reserve and is a habitat of around 50 tigers. Not only this, the park is also home to other rare Indian wildlife species such as Leopards, Gaur, Wild Dogs, Sloth Bears, Jungle Cats, Hyenas and different species of Indian deer such as Sambar, Cheetal, Nilgai and Barking deer.


The park also serves as a natural habitat to many aquatic birds and is also an ornithologists paradise with a varied diversity of aquatic birdlife, and Raptors. Visitors can have jungle safari and is the best option for exploring the park. In Tadoba, a 12-seater minibus is facilitated for jungle rides. Carrying camera and binoculars will be an extra-advantage to your trip.
