Bannerghatta National Park

Nestled in the suburbs of the city of Bangalore, the Bannerghatta National Park is sprawled over 25,000 acres of land which counts to 104.2 sq km. The national park is popular for housing a variety of species of birds and animals and is commonly known for its tiger and lion safari. The park also has green vegetation in abundance along with some of the rare species of both flora and fauna.

The Bannerghtta national park is situated at a distance of about 22 km from the city of Bangalore in Karnataka and was established in the year 197, with the aim of conserving the rare species of flora and fauna which are there in the southern part of the country. The park is incorporated with dry deciduous forests, pointed shrubs along with lush green vegetation.

The Bannerghata National Park of Karnataka counts among the ten reserve forests of Anekal Range which belongs to the Bangalore Forest Division. The Bannerghata National Park in Karnataka is all covered with sandal, zizyphus, neem, jalari, tamarind, and chujjullu trees.

Here, one can also find a wide variety of species of mammals such as elephant, leopard, fox and gaur, barking deer, spotted deer, bonnet macaque, common langur, jackal, hare, sambar, porcupine, wild pig and sloth bear, with many more.

In the northern side of the Bannerghata National Park at Bangalore, there is a tourist area which has been provided and supervised by the forest. This is the part where one van have lion and tiger safari along with other herbivore’s safari. There is also a mini zoo, a reptile park, a mini aviary and a museum here in the Bannerghata National Park. also there is a picnic corner, a serpentarium, pets corner and a crocodile farm in the park.
