Kankaria Lake

The beautiful Kankaria Lake is one of the biggest lakes in Ahmedabad. The lake is in the southern part of the city, in Maninagar area and has the charm that attracts large number of tourists every year. The lake was built by the Sultan Kutubuddin in 15th century and was named as “Qutub Hojj” or “Hauj-e-Kutub”. The water in the lake was used by kings for bathing purpose. The lake too had the water purification system that gets removed with the time. The circular rive, at one point leads to its middle where there is a beautiful garden known as the Nagina Wadi. The garden is 34-sided polygon and has steps that lead down to the water level.
