Nehru children museum is an important place to visit for tourists near Chowranghiee Lane (now Jawaharlal Nehru Road) in Kolkata city of west Bengal state in India. Nehru Children Museum was opened to the general public on 14th November 1972, which is the birthday of Nehruji. The museum comprises of four main galleries including Dolls Gallery, Toys Gallery, Ramayana Gallery and Mahabharata Gallery.


Established in the honor of the first Prime Minister of India Jawahar Lal Nehru, this museum spread over 4 floors and is a dream place for children, with several toys and joyful ambience. The museum for children was conceptualized by a visionary statesman – Late Shri Jugal Srimal. The only objective of the museum is to impart education to the children and make them learn new things.


The Dolls Gallery comprises of dolls from 88 nations of the world, including the most recent addition from Thailand. Also, there are toys from various western origins in the Toy Section, which grabs a lot of attention from the kids at the museum. The clay models depicting the story of Mahabharata and Ramayana are the other fascinating things for the children in the museum.


Nehru Children’s Museum remains open on all the days of the week from 12.00 p.m. to 8.00 p.m. except on Mondays and public holidays. visit the place to learn more about this fabulous place.
