Located at a distance of about 18 km from Jhansi, Jahangir Mahal was built by the King Vir Singh Deo in 17th century to honor the Mughal prince, Jahangir. Built in the Indo-Islamic architectural style, Jahangir Mahal is a three storied Monument. It is a beautiful structure that lies near Betwa River and is available with over 100 rooms, several courtyards, hanging balconies, porches and domes. Having the elaborate traditional gateway at the entrance, the monument looks just amazing. There are two stone elephants with hanging bells on the sides of the entrance providing it an ideal king type feel. The ideal time to visit Jahangir Mahal in Orchha is between the months of October to march, as the climate remains cool and pleasant during the time. The Jahangir Mahal is also recognized with the names of Rani Mahal, Citadel of Jahangir, Orchha Palace, Mahal-e-Jahangir and Jahangir Citadel. Apart from that, the monument is open for visitors between 7:30 am and 6:00 pm.
