The Queen of all Hill Stations, Mahabaleshwar is positioned at an altitude of 1,372m, which happens to fall in the heart of Sahyadri Hills, a part of the district of Satara. It derived its name from the Lord Mahadev’s temple, forming it from the three Sanskrit words, Maha (great), Bal (power) and Ishwar (God), meaning ‘God of Great Power’. It is also believed that the name with mythological past as the name Mahabaleshwar means mighty God.

The state Maharashtra’s most popular hill destination, Mahabaleshwar had once been the summer capital of the Bombay Presidency during the British Raj. Indeed, the place is great and profusion and fusion of ultimate blend of quaint charisma, natural beauty and pristine modesty.

The famous temple Panchganga Mandir is believed to encompass the springs of five rivers: Koyna, Venna, Savitri, Gayatri and the sacred Krishna River, rendering an incredible view to the sightseers. There’s also the Mahabaleshwar Mandir, honored for its Swayambhu Lingam.

Mahabaleshwar is a great holiday destination throughout the year, except for the monsoon months.  During the months of June to mid-September, pouring rains virtually put down the shutters of this hill place, therefore, it is advised avoid visit during these months.

The place is well-liked among the visitors, especially from Mumbai and Pune, as it provides an awesome spree, rendering its visitors to catch a breath of air away from din and rush of the commercialized cities. In summers of course it is frequented with people for the reason it enjoys a pleasant and a cool climate, along with that on some occasions and festivals like Diwali and Christmas also it is observed spotted with people.
