The three century old mansion is oasis in the sprawling sands. The main portions of the Mandir Palacewere built during reign of Late Maharawal Jawahir Singhji. The Mandir Palace in Jaisalmer claims to be as one of the oldest forts in the Indian state of Rajasthan. The unique exquisite stone carvings, is a perfect concoction of the medieval charm and modern amenities.


The palace has intricate carved walls and ornate pillars, balconies, canopies and delicately carved screens which portray the local craftsmanship in its finest and purest form.  The most striking feature of this citadel is the great grand town known as Badal Vilas, which ranges to a height of about 50 m and also claims as an important landmark in the city of Jaisalmer.


Today the Mandir Palace has been converted into a heritage hotel and offers a charm of middle ages with ultra facilities. The palace is one of the finest examples of architectural work. The place is the evidence of the history of Jaisalmer. The different portions of the palace were constructed by different rulers, of which the latest portion was constructed in the initial years of the 20th century.


The palace is created out of yellow sandstone and renders a glimpse of ca beautiful poetry carved on this stone structure.  This hill top city fort lso provides a breath taking view of the quaint city of Jaisalmer.


There are 24 spacious rooms in the palace, which are well equipped with modern amenities. The palace has a range of cuisines including Indian, Chinese and Continental are served besides traditional Rajasthani delicacies. It also gives an option to indulge in recreational activities like camel safaris, jeep safaris and live entertainment shows, which consist of Rajasthani folk music and dance performance besides puppet shows.


The palace is situated just at a distance of about 2.5 km from the Jaisalmer’s railhead and airport and also has another excursion in the region and that is Jaisalmer Fort, which is at a distance of just 1 km.


Note: the Airport is open only in the months from October till March.
