Fateh Prakash Palace

Fateh Prakash Palace

The Fateh Prakash Palace was constructed by Maharana Fateh Singh, one of the greatest Maharanas of Mewar, who ruled from the period of 1885 to 1935. The palace was constructed during his reign as an exclusive setting for the royal events and has been meticulously preserved till date. The palace took its name from the very owner of this palace.

The heritage hotel is still owned by Udaipurs Mewar royal family and is one of their HRH Group of Hotels, which are located in the entire state of Rajasthan. This paltial hotel has also won five National Tourism Awards, for being the best heritage hotel in the “Heritage Grand” category.

Today, the palace has been converted into a heritage hotel and continues to host exclusive ceremonial dinners and corporate events. The palace stands on the eastern bank of the Lake Pichola and this palace is a fine example for recreating the historic splendor of the past with its majestic Durbar Hall and Crystal Gallery. Erected on the shore of the charming Lake Pichola, the palace seems floating in the waters with its reflection.

This Durbar Hall Sabhagaar stands as one of the interesting features of the hotel and also holds historical significance as in the year 1909 Lord Minto, the Viceroy of India, laid its foundation stone and this hall was initially known as the Minto Hall, in order to give him honor.

The palace is dotted with the miniature frescos, portraits, royal artifacts, arsenal of the Mewar Dynasty along with the history-soaked interiors will take you to the historical times.

All the rooms in the palace complex are decorated with original frescos and the furniture from the toshakhanas or royal storerooms will envelop you in velvety opulence as you soak in the ever-changing hues of the lake from large arched windows.
